If you’re looking for a crossbow that is suitable for hunting or to protect yourself, you may want to consider Centerpoint crossbows. These products are one of the most versatile on the market.

While they can be pricey, they are still budget-friendly, and you can find less expensive options BUT with fewer features. We are going to be looking at the below Centerpoint Crossbows.

Top 6 Best Centerpoint Crossbow Reviews

1. CenterPoint Heat 415 FPS Crossbow Package with Power Draw

One of the most admirable aspects of CenterPoint is that they offer a wide variety of products to fit a seemingly endless group of needs. Among the wide-reaching crossbows in the CenterPoint arsenal, the CenterPoint Heat 415 is a solid mid-pack offering. However, its approachable price doesn’t mean that it is lacking in features or performance. Starting with the chassis of this bow, the quality we have come to expect from CenterPoint is on full display. The frame is CNC-machined aluminum and is beautifully finished. From a cursory inspection, you would be forgiven for thinking this was a much more expensive model that it is.

Beyond the fit and finish, the features stack up as well. One of the most novel inclusions on this bow is the CenterPoint exclusive “whisper silencing” system. Anyone with any hunting experience can tell you that silence is one of your most valuable tools when you are tracking game. The CenterPoint Heat will never blow your cover. Using a combination of machined string stops, string silencers, and limb dampeners, this bow is almost entirely silent in operation. Silence is one of the main reasons many hunters are attracted to bow hunting, but so many models are disappointingly noisy. CenterPoint went the high-quality route and made a beautifully quiet model.

Silence and quality are just the beginning, however. As the name would suggest, this bow can fire up to 415 FPS with 153 ft-lbs kinetic energy. This is an impressive showing for a bow of this size and price point. Depending on your choice of an arrow, you should have no trouble tackling most game with this bow. CenterPoint makes using the bow easy as well. As much as I love bow hunting, I must admit that it can sometimes be a bit more of a workout than I bargained for. Cocking a heavy bow is no easy task, especially in the confines of the woods. Thankfully, CenterPoint addressed this as well. With their crank-cocker, you can simply crank this bow at your leisure rather than having to exert your entire weight. It makes the entire process markedly more relaxing, not to mention safe.

Overall, this is a beautifully designed and equipped bow. Anyone looking for a mid-tier example of the CenterPoint lineup should give this a serious look.

Although I’m not averse to bells and whistles, I occasionally enjoy a back-to-basics approach with my tools and weapons. Often, a simple but well-made crossbow can be just as satisfying to use as a more complex model. For the times when I want a simple no-nonsense experience, the CenterPoint AXCM175CK is a winner.

Unlike many of the other models in the CenterPoint lineup, the AXCM175CK is a rope-cock model, rather than a crank. While this does require additional force, CenterPoint did an excellent job of making the process extremely ergonomic. With the broad and comfortable handle on the front of this bow, it is easy to have a confident grip. Thus, while you will have to put a little effort behind cocking this bow, it is surprisingly easy even in tight quarters. This process is made even easier by this bow’s comparatively light 175 lb draw strength.

Despite the light draw force, this bow doesn’t compromise on power. At 370 FPS firing speed, it is slightly less powerful than some of its cousins, but still plenty formidable for the vast majority of game. It can produce 121 ft-lbs kinetic energy. Beyond the firing rate, CenterPoint didn’t cut any corners when equipping this bow. It is unfortunately very common to see bows be little more than bare-bones kits. In contrast, ordering the AXCM175CK gets you an extremely elegant front-mount quiver, three 20″ carbon arrows, and a nicely dialed 4×32 scope. It’s a great setup right out of the box, eliminating a lot of the headache of assembling a piecemeal set. In terms of value and completeness, this model is hard to beat.

3. CenterPoint Archery CP400 400 FPS Crossbow with Case and Broadheads Bundle

Last update on 2024-04-06 / Affiliate links / Images from Amazon Product Advertising API

The name CenterPoint is largely associated with the highest quality and some of the fastest crossbows on the market. Of these top-rated models, the CP400 is the cream of the crop. Admittedly, it is not the least expensive model we looked at. However, the cost is well justified. If you want the best, this is it.

The primary party trick of the CP400 is it’s incredibly compact size. The axle-to-axle width is an amazingly small 6″ when drawn, making it one of the narrowest cross-bows on the market. This increase in maneuverability can make a big difference in the field, especially if you tend to hunt in more dense terrain. The size doesn’t mean that power or speed is compromised, however. This crossbow can fire at an impressive 400 FPS while generating over 142 FPE of kinetic energy. Unless you spend your weekends hunting elephants, this crossbow should prove more than powerful enough for seemingly any need.

The accessories are impressive as well. The front of this bow features a novel stirrup that doubles as a bipod, making loading and aiming equally easy. It’s a very clever idea that I am surprised is not more common. The included scope is a winner as well. Having reviewed dozens of crossbows over the years, I have become used to the included scopes being little more than thoughtless “add-ons.” They may work, but they are rarely anything to write home about. Well, this assumption was blown out of the water by CenterPoint. The included 3x32mm illuminated scope worked beautifully and left nothing to be desired. Finally, an included scope worthy of the bow it is mounted to! Finally, CenterPoint included a very nice bag and a 3-pack of HME fixed-blade steel tip 100-grain broadhead arrows. Overall, this crossbow leaves nothing to be desired.

4. CenterPoint Tyro 4X Recurve Crossbow Package With 4x32mm Scope

  • COMPRESSION MOLDED FIBERGLASS LIMB - With a traditional look and feel
  • AUTO-SAFETY COCKING MECHANISM - For safe handling
  • FOREGRIP STORAGE COMPARTMENT - Store rail lube and other small accessories
  • 4x32 mm SCOPE - For accuracy in the field

Having the quality of a CenterPoint doesn’t require breaking the bank. The Tyro 4X is CenterPoint’s budget-oriented model, but it is an impressive item regardless of price. Of course, offering a high-quality bow at this price point requires paring back on certain materials. The frame of this bow is primarily fiberglass, rather than the CNC aluminum of the higher-priced models. However, the design is very elegant, the bow is very rigid, and the overall finish is still great. Despite the savings, it certainly doesn’t feel like a compromise.

This is a rope-draw model, but the draw weight is a very manageable 175 lbs. Thus, you don’t have to have herculean strength to use this bow. Further, CenterPoint included an auto-safety cocking mechanism to allow for safe cocking without the fear of backlash. This combination makes this a fantastic option for beginners.

Given the price point of this crossbow, you might expect that they would not be able to include a scope or any accessories. Yet again, CenterPoint went above and beyond. The Tyro includes a very nice 4x32mm scope. While this isn’t the most elaborate scope in the world it certainly gets the job done adequately. Similarly, they included a very nice set of four arrows and a great quiver. Both items are fairly simple but very effective.

I’m extremely happy to see that CenterPoint is offering more economically minded models. Reading any number of CenterPoint crossbow reviews will quickly tell you their reputation for quality, but they have never had a truly beginner-oriented model. This bow solves that gap and does so wonderfully.

Centerpoint From Crossman, a Brief History

Centerpoint products are created by Crosman, which was founded in 1923. It’s been driven all this time by innovation and quality. Its history and modern needs remain in the airgun industry, but it also has a large product lineup for the outdoor sporting goods arena, which includes firearms, laser aiming devices, and archery products using the

Centerpoint brand name. Crosman and Centerpoint have introduced a new lineup for its crossbows. In 2018, you could find the Volt 300, Sniper Elite Whisper, and the new Mercenary series, which utilizes functionality and intelligent technology to give you the best performance possible.

While we haven’t reviewed all the new products, we chose many options based on a variety of factors.

Centerpoint Crossbow, A Survival Tool

From a survivalist’s perspective, archery is a natural attraction. Crossbows are usually more effective and accurate as a projectile weapon, other than the firearm. They can also be easier to improvise than firearms; if you can’t purchase one because you’re already in survival mode, you can make one with flexible, strong wood and decent string.

The crossbow is also silent, which is perfect for a survivalist. If you’re in such a situation, you are likely going to hide and avoid attention. While you’re likely to have a firearm, it can make noise that can be heard from far away. If you’re trying not to give away your current position, crossbows can solve that problem.

You can also improvise ammo. You’re not going to make bullets when you run out, though it is possible to do. It’s much easier to make a bolt for a crossbow. Sometimes called arrows, the bolts are made of sticks and sharpened materials, as well as a feather.

Qualities Your Crossbow Should Have

When purchasing a crossbow, you need to find the best. You don’t want something adequate because you could make that yourself. If you’re going to spend a lot of money, you should focus on getting the most out of your weapon.

You should consider how much power your crossbow is going to pack. Most models have a draw weight of about 175 pounds, though pistol-style crossbows can have a light draw

You also need to focus on durability. Crossbow arms are always under tremendous pressure, which is increased significantly when you draw the bow back. If the arm breaks, it poses a danger to anyone in the vicinity. You might want to consider a crossbow weight and size that fits your current frame and size.

You may find it awkward to carry your crossbow on the back, so you may be holding it for long periods. Purchasing a crossbow sling is possible, but they tend to just get in the way.

Crossbow Safety Considerations

A decent crossbow needs to have an anti-dry fire trigger (ADF). This mechanism ensures that you cannot pull the trigger or release the string if an arrow is not locked into place. The goal of the ADF trigger is to prevent an accidental dry firing, which can cause your crossbow to fail over time.

Dry-firing your bow is a horrible idea because it puts much more pressure on the components. However, if you consider that a crossbow also has a greater string tension, you soon realize that the danger is amplified even more.

Regardless of what you’re hunting or doing, you should always follow these safety rules:

  • Do not point your weapon in a direction that is unsafe (such as at a person or animal, unless you feel attacked or plan to engage).
  • Do not keep your finger resting on the trigger. Keep it near to the trigger until you’re ready to fire it.
  • Regardless of what your target is, make sure there’s nothing between you and it.
  • Do not shoot over ridges. You may not have the right trajectory and may not know who or what is ahead of you.
  • Ensure that your arrows can’t go through the target. If this happens, you may hit something you didn’t intend to hit, such as power lines, people, and more.
  • Do not shoot straight into the air or try to do a mortar shot. The arrow is bound to come back down and could hit someone, injuring or killing them.
  • Use the right size arrows for your crossbow. This information can be found in the owner’s manual.
  • Before each shooting session, check the crossbow for any signs of wear and tear or damage.
  • If you use a scope, make sure that it is working correctly to reduce your risk of shooting outside the target range.
  • Consider the ‘speed’ of the arrow and hit. A high FPS rating is essential, but it is also possible to go too fast.

Conclusion

We believe that all of these Centerpoint Crossbows Reviews were decent in construction and ability, but there has to be a clear winner. CenterPoint Archery CP400 400 FPS Crossbow sits at the top of our list, and it’s there for a reason. The scope is decent and you also get a variety of extras with this product. It will make a good addition to any deer hunting arsenal.
